Background
Anthony Bright is the Atwood Chair of Engineering Science and Professor of Engineering at Harvey Mudd College, Claremont, California. He joined Harvey Mudd in 1986.
Dr Bright was the Chair of the Department of Engineering at Harvey Mudd College from 2002 to 2007. During that time, he was a member of the Committee for Engineering Education at the National Academy of Engineering, contributing to the discussions of the report “Engineer of 2020” prepared by the Academy. Dr Bright was the Director of the Engineering Clinic Program at Harvey Mudd College from 1992 to 1998. The Clinic is a program in which teams of undergraduate students work under faculty supervision on industrially sponsored research, design and development projects. As Director, he brought over 150 projects to successful completion for around 60 different industry sponsors. Dr Bright has been an invited speaker to conferences and seminars on industry/academic partnership in the US, Japan and Europe. Dr Bright received his bachelor's degree from the University of Manchester in England, his master's degree from MIT and doctoral degree from the University of Bradford in England, all in chemical engineering.
