In Attendance:

Agenda Items:

1)  SAFETY TRAINING SESSIONS 
    Lillian has scheduled a safety training and fire extinguishertraining 
    session for the Chemistry summer research studends in the NSF-REU 
    program.  The session will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at 3:00pm.

    Annie will place a notice in the Green Sheet to inform the HMC Community
    of the new upcomming training sessions in workplace violenc, corporate 
    criminal liability, and ergonomics.  She will also request that Sheldon
    announce these training sessions in senior staff meetings.


2)  SENIOR STAFF MEETING
    Annie reported on what happened at the Senior Staff meeting on Tuesday,
    May 14.  The outline of her presentation was forwarded ahead of time to
    Mary Neu, Administrative Aide to President Strauss.

    Annie reported that 90% of the employees in both Dining Services and F&M
    have attended the safety training sessions required by their supervisors. 
    Of the new employees, almost 100% have attended.  All employees, especially 
    senior staff and faculty, are encouraged to attend at least the Five Combined 
    Basic training session. 

    Annie also explained the meaning of the safety logo, "Safety Wally," to the 
    senior staff. 
     
  
3)  MAINTENANCE OF SAFETY RECORDS
    Theresa has said that she will formulate a matrix for maintaining safety 
    training records for F&M.  Annie has approached Ramona to do likewise for
    Dining Services.  Kim Rogers will keep in contact with both Theresa and Ramona
    concerning this matter.  If both agree, they will work with Kim Rogers during 
    the transition phase.   


4)  OPEN DISCUSSION

    A.  Discussion was opened concerning an "all-campus safety fair."  Tony said
        that a table addressing the issue of personal disaster preparedness is
        very important. Ed Arismendi agreed.  Tony will contact the LA chapter
        of the ASSE (American Society of Safety Engineers).
               

5) Next meeting will be:  Thursday, August 29, 2002, at 11:00am
   in the Stauffer Lounge
