Agenda Items:
1) FIRST AID AND CPR TRAINING
Two dates were considered for the training: Saturday, June 28, 2003 and
Saturday, July 26, 2003. The Committee decided that the session will be
on June 28, in English. Kimberly said that the training will involve
Adult, Infant, and Child CPR and First Aid.
Kimberly will coordinate the training with Ramona in Dining Services and
Theresa in F&M. She will also send directions and specifics to all
participants.
2) RADIATION SAFETY TRAINING VIDEO
Videos dealing with several topics are available from Radiological Training
Services. They include "Radiation Preparation," "Radiation Revisited,"
"Radiation Protection Standards," Radiation and Pregnancy," "Radiation
Fundamentals," and "Radiation and Common Sense." Of particular concern
is the length of the video.
The Committee decided that Annie should seek the advice of Professor
Karl Haushalter in the chemistry department concerning which videos
should be purchased. Professor Haushalter has experience working with
radiochemicals. The Committee also agreed that other options should be
explored before any purchases are made.
3) INCENTIVES TO PROMOTE SAFETY
The Committee discussed the possibility of awarding gift certificates/cards.
They could be from Starbucks, Borders, Some Crust, or Wolfes. It is
desireable to avoid the tax implications of the meal-card credit.
Kimberly will investigate the maximum "non-taxable" amount that can be
offered in the gift certificate/card.
It was decided that 10 to 15 gifts would be given during the academic
year.
4) OPEN DISCUSSION
A. Lillian has determined the style and size of the pallet needed to
house 2 (two) 55 gallon drums of acetone in the cage on the Libra
loading dock. Tony provided information from the California
Uniform Fire Code.
Annie suggested contacting Golden Eagle Moving Company concerning
the delivery of the 55 gallon drum.
5) Next meeting: will be scheduled in August, 2003
A computer record and a hard copy of this report will be kept in
Lillian McCollum's office (2310 Jacobs).
If you would like a hard copy, send your request to Annie Atiyeh
at annie_atiyeh@hmc.edu
