Harvey Mudd College
Employee Safety Committee

Safety Program

CAL OSHA requires every employer to establish a written Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP). Harvey Mudd College has this plan. The department chairs and Employee Safety Committee members have a copy of this plan.

The HMC plan provides for an Employee Safety Committee to include members from administration, faculty and staff. The HMC Employee Safety Committee has several duties: coordination of training, dissemination of information, fielding employee concerns, investigation of accidents and concerns, and discovery of new or improved methods for providing a safe workplace.

The priority assignment of the Employee Safety Committee has been to begin training sessions as required by the IIPP. So that employees attend only those safety training sessions which apply to them, a safety session matrix was created and finalized after several recommendations from the HMC Employee Safety Committee and Tony Pennington, Environmental Health and Safety Manager of The Claremont Colleges.
