Training for Corporate Criminal Liability, for faculty and staff, will be on
    on Thursday, November 7, 2002.

Workplace Violence 2 & 3 sessions, for facultu and staff, will be held on
Thursday, December 5, 2002. Annie will provide Tony with a profile of
    people attending these sessions.

Fire Extinguisher Training, for faculty and staff, is scheduled for Thursday,
    May 1, 2003.

2) AIR QUALITY REPORT
Annie has been inspecting the labs in the Jacobs Science Building and has
determined that little has changed regarding particulate accumulation. Tom
Shaffer, Plant Engineer in HMC Facilities, was notified. He inspected the
air ducts and determined that the particulates were still present.

Previously, Health Buildings (a company) recommended that the air ducts not be
replaced because the company believed that the air ducts were not disintegrating.
Theresa, who received the Healthy Buildings report, said that the company and
F&M are still working out the details.

Annie will not move back into the Physics stockroom/office until the problem is
    solved.

3) GREEN SHEET SAFETY TIPS
Annie needs suggestions for safety tips that she will be submitting to the
Green Sheet Publication. Tony said that he had several suggestions that he will
    forward to Annie.

Annie will also submit the dates of upcoming safety training sessions for
    publication and announcement.

4) ALL-CAMPUS SAFETY FAIR
Annie proposed that the Employee Safety Committee set up a table at Open
Enrollment to promote employee safety. Tony suggested the possibility of
having a "Safety Fair" in April involving all of the colleges.

5) OPEN DISCUSSION
    A. Theresa said that the CPR training scheduled for F&M did not occur because
the instructor who does the yearly training was not available. In the
past, July was the month in which CPR and First Aid training were done for
the F&M staff. Further discussion was tabled until the next meeting.

    B. Annie would like to purchase a Radiation Safety Training video from
Radiological Training Services, LLC (Radiation videos.com). This video
would be available to all specified employees. Tony will view the
video, and he may purchase one so that it can be available to all of the
        Claremont Colleges.

    C. After some discussion, the Committee decided that it would be advantageous
for the F&M Department to keep its own employee safety training records.

    D. According to Tony, a carpal tunnel syndrome case was evaluated ergonomically.
Tony suggested changing the position of the mouse in addition to the removal
        of the rest pad.

    E. Professor Nancy Hamlett, Chair of the HMC Biology Department, reported that
she was trapped in the Olin Building elevator after a power failure had
occurred. Theresa discussed this matter with the CUC Physical Plant. As a
result, the functioning of the safety device on this elevator is presently
being investigated. Theresa will follow-up with Professor Hamlett.

    F. Relative to Dining Services employees, Tony suggested that HMC reevaluate the
"Return to Work" Policy in order to decrease the number of accidents. Most
Dining Services employees have a lengthy leave of absence during the summer
        months.

6) Next meeting will be: Friday, October 18, 2002 at 11:00am in
   the Stauffer Lounge
