• The Harvey Mudd College American Gamelan will be performing with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra at the Orange County Performing Arts Center on May 19, 24, and 25.
• Richard Olson's new book, Science and Religion, 1450-1900: From Copernicus to Darwin, has just been published by Greenwood Press.
• Bill Alves's new book, Music of the Peoples of the World, has just been published by Thomson/Schirmer.
• The Henry T. Mudd Prize was awarded to Richard Olson at the 2005 commencement ceremony. The prize is awarded each year to a member of the college community whose service to the college and its mission is exemplary.
• Ryan Yamada (2005) received funding from the Garrett fund for travel to Europe
• Radley Prize for Freshman Writing Prize awarded to Andy Leverentz (2008)
• Isabel Balseiro received an Andrew W. Mellon Career Enhancement Grant to work on "The New African Movement"
• Debra Mashek's co-authored research on brain areas associated with feelings of intense love was highlighted in the article, "Watching New Love as It Sears in the Brain,"; in The New York Times on May 31.
