Journal regretfully closes with this online edition.
The online editor abundantly thanks
Alvin and Myra White for providing the medium and the message of Humanistic
Mathematics, a concept and creation which has enriched the
lives of so many. The interested reader can trace
the Network's journey in the Archives. As Alvin reaches his golden
80's, we conclude that it is time to hand to someone
else the humanistic torch. Hopefully ideas about a new kind
of Humanistic Mathematics will find a home under a new name, with a vision

The Humanistic Mathematics Nework Journal
was supported by the ExxonMobil Foundation for about 15 years.
It was mailed to over 3000 individuals and libraries all over the world.
Programs and presentations at the national
meetings of the Mathematics Association of America were sponsored
Mature and younger mathematicians contributed to the journal and presented
talks.
Now the Foundation has ended its support
and the journal will become an online publication. The new editors
are Sandra and Phil Keith of St. Cloud State in Minnesota.
The Keiths are longtime enthusiastic supporters of humanistic mathematics
and experienced educators and editors.
My expectation is that the new format will
be as successful as the previous one was.
On a personal note, publishing HMNJ has
been a fifteen year peak experience. I am grateful to those who contributed
to and supported the journal.
